Metalworking firm Kennametal was founded in 1938 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The company began developing a tungsten-titanium carbide alloy for cutting tools used in metalworking across a wide range of products. Later, Kennametal developed the use of carbide tooling in mining, exploiting the tough wearing properties of the alloy. Several acquisitions over the years have given Kennametal a strong global presence and access to markets across the world.
