EquipNet is auctioning brewery equipment formerly operated by Alken-Maes. The assets come to the market following site closure.
Alken-Maes is the Belgian subsidiary of Heineken. The company announced the closure of their facility in Opwijk, Belgium in 2022. The decision to move production away from the site to other breweries in the group was influenced by a lack of capacity for production of their Affligem brand of beer and the investment required to attain the firm’s target of becoming CO2 neutral by 2030. Production will be moved to other locations in Belgium and France.
The online auction of 37 items will take place on the 13th of June. Equipment available in the auction includes: a complete Meura 200HL brewhouse, Engie heat exchangers, GEA ammonia piston compressors, GEA Westfalia c arifiers, Atlas Copco air compressors, filters, grain silos, and various tanks and more. The equipment can be inspected by appointment only.
