Gordon Brothers, in partnership with Cotterill & Co, is auctioning machinery and equipment formerly operated by Safilo in the production of sunglasses and goggles. The assets come to the market following the closure of the Safilo facility in Slovenia.
Italian firm Safilo designs, manufactures and distributes eyewear including prescription frames, ski goggles, sunglasses and sports eyewear under its own brands and licensed brands. The company operates production facilities, showrooms, design studios and offices in Italy, North America and Hong Kong. The assets, which can be viewed by appointment only, will be sold in a series of six online auctions.
Auction 1 will close on the 26th of July and features CNC machining centers, machine tools and air compressors. Auction 2 will close on the 26th of July and features eyewear frame profiling, cleaning and testing equipment. Auction 3 will close on the 27th of July and features varnishing lacquer application and cleaning systems, CHP plants and air handling system. Auction 4 will close on the 27th of July and features injection moulding machines, printers, laser cutter, welding and frame grinding equipment. Auction 5 will close on the 28th of July and features eyewear frame assembly and finishing equipment. Auction 6 will close on the 28th of July and features frame spraying and drying, assembly and finishing equipment.
