8th – 24th September 2020 – Cheese Manufacturing Equipment from Castelli Cheese

Pittsburgh-based auctioneers Harry Davis & Company was established in 1955 and specialises in the food and beverage sector. The firm provides appraisal, auction, consulting and turnkey sales to businesses of all sizes, worldwide. This September Harry Davis & Company will sell cheese manufacturing equipment and real estate from Castelli Cheese USA following the closure of their facility located in Ashville, New York.

The Nuova Castelli Group was founded in 1892 and specialises in the production of traditional and PDO Italian cheeses, sold under their own brands and private labels. The group is based in Reggio, Emilia, Italy and operates from around 20 locations in Italy and across the world. Their products include Grana Padano DOP, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP,Gorgonzola DOP, Taleggio DOP, Pecorino Toscano DOP, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP and Mozzarella STG.

Castelli America acquired the Ashville facility in 2016, investing in upgrades to site infrastructure and equipment. The closure of the plant was announced in December 2019 following challenges faced by the firm relating to sales and production.

The auction will take place between the 8th and 24th of September. Inspection is through appointment with the auctioneer. The assets include: cheese making equipment including: horizontal cheese vats; fines saver; paddle blender; 2009 Feldmeier ribbon blender; Rima cooker; Rima Formatrice D461/1600; CDM stretcher; CDM cutter. Pasteurization equipment. Filtration Engineering ultra filtration system. Stainless steel silos and tanks. Receiving and blending equipment. Packaging equipment including: Pro Max vacuum packager; Holmatic cup filler; Multivac R230MC; 2019 Koss mozzarella slicer. Laboratory equipment, utilities and much more.
